Issues

This should work. It is quite intuitive but has issues besides the hang-ups or freezing when scrolling down the menus. Ive been in touch with the developers concerning a couple of things and they are helpful but I still find this app to be less than accurate regarding: location - it puts me in another country when I choose automatic location and it wont accept my actual location when I manually enter it; temps - because a town on the lake a few minutes away is the nearest location to us, the temps are always a few degrees off; humidex or real feel is always way off often saying the real feel temp is equal to the actual temp when we are sweltering under a humidex which is actually 5-10 degrees celcius hotter. The satellite map is a great feature but it is tiny and therefore unreadable for the most part with no ability to zoom in even though the Local button is stuck on when its obvious that it is a National map Im looking at - it wont allow me to click on either National or Regional.

??

Constantly crashes and hangs. Dont bother. They havent fixed this.

Fast and Easy to Use

This app is fast, easy to use and effective. So far the best weather app I have used im my opinion. What more could you ask for? To FIX PROGRAM hang, one way to fix this is to: Open Activity Monitor -> Use search in top right to search for MenuWeather -> Select MenuWeather -> Select Kill Process (Hexagon Icon with x in it). No run MenuWeather again as you normally would and it should be working! Hopefully the issue of hanging is fixed soon but for now this fix should work. Note: Yes it is a slightly power hungry and some of the weather notifications persist until you click on them, but the app is in my mind still without a doubt still worth 5 stars.

A Disappointment

It’s a sunny day. 26°C, feels like 30. WeatherMenu tells be that the moon is out, and its 14°. It isn’t always this bad, which makes things worse. You never know when it’ll show the wrong data. Avoid.

When it works it’s ok but reliability isn’t it’s forte

This app back a few years ago was pretty reliable and could be counted on to update itself with current weather conditions and so on. Nowadays it just hangs or doesn’t update the weather until you force it to; though some days it works out of sheer miracle. My advice is if you didn’t pay for this app already just move on and find something else. I’ve checked back here a couple times myself to see if there is any progress and there is none. The designer ironically on April 1st put up a website and update on here in the description that they’d be making version 5.0. Here it is the middle of July both update, website, and app haven’t been changed over. I guess the joke is on us holding out faith that there will be one. In the end this app is ABANDONWARE and Apple should really be removing it from the app store...

Desperatly needs update for Yosemite

Good app but desperatly needs updates for retina and Yosemite dark mode. Last update was in Feb 2013.

Worked one minute, then updated, now broken

MenuWeather had its occasional issues but I liked having the weather available in my menubar. Updated over night without warning with a name change and now is completely broken.

Current version broken, no word from dev

I’ve reached out to the developer twice now to look into why Orbis is crashing on launch. No response either time. Please get this fixed!

QUIT WORKING AFTER BECOMING ORBIS (from MenuWeather)

Do not spend any money on this app. WeatherMenu had kind of let me down months ago as it got cut off in the menubar and I couldn’t see the temp unless I clicked on it. So when I heard that Orbis was a completely reworked version of MenuWeather, I was excited to update it. However, since the rework, it crashes every time when attempting to launch. It’s been like this for many months with no response from the developer and no fixes. Disappointed that I threw money away.

Does not update

The app no longer updates my canadian locations (it does update my current location in Canada). Was a very good application before the update. Now it is a letdown.

Unusable, bring back menuweather until fixed!

Used MenuWeather for a long time, was great. Orbis crashes when specifying locations, making it useless.

Attention!

After update doesnt work :( Guys do somethink...

Not Bad, Needs UI Work

Getting there. Text could be more readable, but other than occasional quirkiness (e.g., weather being stuck on 86 degrees for a week), the app is coming along well.

Not usable unless you’re using dark menu bar mode

The app seems to think I’m using a dark menu bar, as it’s text and icons are rendering white. Unfortunately, I’m using the standard menu bar mode, and white on silver is essentially useless. For now the app is a waste of money.

Bug Needs Squashing — still!

This is a decent weather app, but there are STILL 3 bugs that need squashing. 1. No way to make the Weather Warnings go away without clicking on them (which sometimes causes the app to freeze, while it tries to bring up the warning). 2. App sometimes freezes (or goes into an infinite updating loop) when trying to update the weather. There seems to be no time-out set. These two freeze problems cause everything else on the computer to run slow until you force crash out of the program using Activity Monitor. At this point, it’s time to delete this app from my computer.

Orbis and VoiceOver: Not Looking Good

I really liked both MenuWeather for Mac OS and iOS because of its VoiceOver accessibility. There are not too many weather apps in the Mac app store that are completely accessible via the keyboard and that work well with VoiceOver. Weather Live, Clear Day, WeatherMan, Weather Dock just to name a few, are all nothing but large disappointments to me and the blind user-base as a whole. Unfortunately, Orbis is no different. When I launch it, there is a table. Instinctively, I interact with it which reveals an unknown element. I interact with that and there is a list with three items including an image and a table to the right that apparently displays alerts. The aforementioned items are the location and current temperature. Fifteen day forecast? Where! Customisation? Where! No Command-, shortcut works any more which means no preferences panes. There is absolutely _nothing_ else for me to do with this thing! The user interface appears whenever I activate the status extras menu item. Previously, a menu was revealed which had a sub-menu with the preferences option there. I do not care about the user interface! I do not care what it looks like or how visually appealing it is! I want fair access like my sighted counter-parts! MenuWeather 4.2.5 had that and customisation was not an issue. What was a really decent app is currently about to be uninstalled due to its uselessness for me as a blind person who is restricted solely to the keyboard – no mouse, no monitor. I am almost certain Evan Coleman or whomever the current developer is will read this. I can only hope he will take heed to my concerns and start to consider his blind user-base even if it is a single person.

Excellent Update

Just downloaded and installed the update on my MacMini (2012) i7. Looks and works great. Hopefully, this complete refresh addressed hanging, freezing, and weather warning problems with the old one. The simple ui is exactly what I like in a weather app. Thanks for the hard work Orbis!

New version doesn’t work for me

Installed this upgrade to my favorite weather app for the menubar but it doesn’t seem to work. It just shows a red exclamation point in the menubar and when I click on that it says “The operation couldn’t be completed (kCLErrorDomain error 0.)” There are three options to dismiss this message … Quit, Retry, and Preferences. Quit and Preferences seem to work as expected. Retry doesn’t seem to fix anything. BTW, I’m running the public beta of OSX 10.10.3 … not sure if that may be causing issues.

just crashes, had problems with the version before too

Just crashes, had problems with the version before too. I give up.

keeps quitting

Having gone from WeatherPop to WeatherMenu, then having watched WeatherMenu get buggier and buggier over time, I was happy to just see this update pop up in the App Store. Somebody still cares! Unfortunately, it just keeps quitting and crashing, so I guess it’s back to the drawing board for the developers. This is unusable at the moment.
